Timely Filing

Timely filing is when an insurance company restricts the number of days in which you can submit a claim. Each payer will set their own timely filing. For example, if Aetna has a 90-day timely filing requirement, you must submit the claim within 90 days of the date of service.

To configure the timely filing and timely filing appeals settings:

  1. Click Payers on the navigation bar.

  2. Find the payer on the list and then click the payer name.

  3. Timely filing can be set on both the Policies and Benefits tabs.

As a reminder, when a claim is near, at, or past timely filing, a message displays at the top of your My Claims page. Click the claim number in the message to go to the Claim page.

Seven days or less: Yellow warning displays the claim number and the expiration date. Click the claim number to display the Claim page.

0 days: Red warning displays.

> 0 days: Red warning informs warns that the filing period expired.
